1) Yeah, Van would definitely ask beforehand, unless there were extreme mitigating circumstances, so that's not a problem.

2) Whoops, sorry - he can sense others' feelings, essentially; unless the other character in question was an empath themselves, they probably wouldn't be able to sense his unless he deliberately "projects" -- which is extremely unlikely.
